Leonard William SNELLMAN was born on 2 December 1891 in Sweden. He died on 20 September 1941 at the age of 49. He was in mechanic. Leonard born 1891 in Sweden, the third child of a family of four. He immigrated to the US in 1903 and settled in Hauto, PA.. His father worked as a miner in the coal mines and died at a young age. Leonard also began working in the mines but soon decided underground work in the mines was not for him and became a mechanic, fixing equipment used in the mines. During WWI he was an airplane mechanic in England and following the war returned to the US to work as a steam shovel operator at the mines. He had a Model T Ford which he used to court his future bride, Vera Stickler. In June 1919 Leonard and Vera were married and took up residence at 264 Patterson Street near the home of his brother-in-law, William Stickler. Leonard and Vera had three children; - Leonard William, Jr., Martha Ann, and Maude Evelyn. Two years after Leonard, Jr. was born the family moved to Philadelphia where Leonard set up an auto repair shop at the family residence. Leonard died in September 1941 at the age of forty-nine.
